America's Got Talent 10/1/08

This is the results show for the finals. So they are showcasing all of the talent from this past season. First song was performed by the Final Ten. Then they had messages for the Top Five. Il Divo cheered on Neal E. Boyd, Marc Cohn had a message for Eli Mattson. Bryan McKnight gave a shout out to Queen Emily. Andrew Lloyd Weber had a message of Donald Braswell. Last but not least Wyclef Jean had a few nice things to say for the boys of Nuttin but Stringz. (Who by the way are all over Noggin these days).

We had to relive just about every moment of the summer. The good. The bad. And especially the ugly. Then we had to have every cute moment. High lighting the favorites. Every scream of joy. Every crushing moment.

I'm glad that America proved the judges wrong and sent Donald Braswell as far as they did. What were they thinking putting the floppy doodle mascots through to a million dollar contest?

We drew it out as long as we possibly could....
5th place goes to Queen Emily. (I'm shocked by this)
4th place goes to Donald Braswell (called it, but he rocks and ALW loves him)
3rd place goes to Nuttin but Stringz (WTHeck? thought they'd upset Neal)

So, I can't believe it comes down to Eli Mattson and Neal E. Boyd. Of course my guess is Neal. And boy are they looking like they are going to puke. Eli is a little cooler though. But has a much broader audience, so he'll be fine.

Now we go over the perks. The show at the MGM in Vegas. And the "how is this going to change your life?" questions. And instead of reliving their summer after the announcement, we relive them both before the announcement. Again, they are just barely holding it together. Just staring ahead saying to themselves, "don't puke."
There was less than 1/2 of 1% difference between the two..

AND THE WINNER IS.....
Neal E. Boyd

From the beginning I called that. He rocks. And he lost it, which I would have totally done too. And a special message from Placido Domingo. And now he has to pull it together and sing.

I don't think the judges said two words all night, except for the pre-interview stuff.

America's Got Talent 10/1/08

Ok, the winner is announced. I'll save the surprise for it to play out Pacific time. But it totally rocks, and I totally called it. Wahoo, congratulations to the winner. Check back at midnight central.

America's Got Talent 9-24-08

Shortened version due to Presidential Speech.

Going first tonight is Nuttin But Stringz. They are doing a song that they wrote. They got a standing O from the judges, and the crowd was on their feet the whole time.

Piers says that they are what is right with America. The winner is someone who has the most unique talent, the most dynamism. He thinks they are the winners.
Sharon says their material is never ending. It's incredible.
The Hoff says Nuttin but Vegas.

Second up is Donald Braswell. He is singing "You Raise Me Up." My vote is that is a bad call. You can't sing a song that Josh Groban does impeccably. You just won't compare. He has gotten a lot better than he was in the beginning. The judges were wrong to not advance him past Vegas the first time. He is good but he's no Josh. A few people stood.

Sharon says his personality isn't up to the competition, she said he needs to go to Broadway.
Hoff disagreed.
Piers says the last note was a little over the top. You've lived your dream, and Piers commended him for proving the judges wrong.

Next up is Neal E. Boyd. My favorite, just because he is so sweet and so talented. He sang an opera song. I wouldn't know the name of it, but he does opera best. He has quite the voice. His mom was there to see his performance. A lot of people stood.

Hoff says he is honored to have been on the journey with him. This is what America is all about.
Piers says he's in a strange and uncomfortable position, because he agreed with David.
Sharon says she'd heard the song many times before but never as beautiful as he did it tonight.

Fourth up this evening was another male vocalist, Eli Mattson. He sang "Against All Odds" by Phil Collins. He's more of a Marc Cohn type singer, it was good but not great. I'm glad he got this far, I'm sure he'll go places from here. Of course young and good looking may get him far.

Piers says what he likes most about him is that he takes old classics and makes them his own.
Sharon says he has a great voice, he is a great musician, he's young and good looking.
Hoff says he's the dark horse. He has class and he's real.

Queen Emily is the only woman left. She sang "One Moment in Time" she did a great job. I'm glad that there is a talent show for people older than 20 something. The crowd was on their feet early on for the first time since Nuttin but Stringz.

Piers said she looked like a Queen tonight, and that this was her best performance of the competition. He said she'd struggle to win against Nuttin but Stringz
Sharon said she is a Diva. Her confidence shines through, and the audience feels good when she performs.
Hoff says she looks like a princess, I think he was trying to be clever. You'll go on to have an amazing career.

Go and vote for your favorite at www.nbc.com and tune in next Wednesday for the reveal. Lots of surprises.

America's Got Talent 9-18-08

Here are my predictions from last night. Check back after 8:30 Pacific Time to see if I'm right. Tonight is a half hour results show.

I would guess that tomorrow we're going to find the following going into the final.

Neal E. Boyd
Nuttin But Stringz
Queen Emily
Eli Mattson
Donald Braswell

Not making it, in my opinion....

Kaitlyn Maher Still the cutest thing ever. "I'm from Amewica."
Paul Salos
Jessica Price (although if I'm wrong it's here)
The Wright Kids Oh, the big boy cried when they got eliminated. Poor thing.
Joseph HallHe almost cried too. Cutie pie.

America's Got Talent 9-18-08 Results show

I guessed it. Batted 1000. Check back at 8:30 Pacific time to see the results.

America's Got Talent 9-17-08

Here's the run down

1. Paul Salos, the Frank Sinatra impersonator. Piers buzzed him for not being a million dollar act.

2. Kaitlyn Maher, the four year old girl. Not on her game tonight. No one buzzed her though and she got a standing O. Cute as a button, but I think that stress is finally showing. She won't be going to Vegas, but she'll be on every show that requires cute little girl for the foreseeable future.

3. Donald Braswell, the singer who lost his voice and had originally gotten booted. America voted him back and have carried him past 30 other acts that the judges originally picked. Did a good job, I didn't feel it though the audience loved it. He too got a standing O. Piers says he's not sure he's as good as the other singers. Sharon, playing the role of Paula Abdul, says something nonsensical and passes it over to the patronizing Hoff.

4. Jessica Price, the girl who has a little problem with her confidence. I honestly don't think she could handle the pressure of a Las Vegas contract. She is a cutie, and a great singer, but isn't quite ready. Piers loved her, which means more than anything the other two have to say.

5. Joseph Hall, the Elvis impersonator. If ever there was a reason to be 20 something again, yowza. Not that Vegas needs another Elvis, but I'd pay to see him, who cares how he sings. The audience loved him, Piers says his singing is horrible, but said he was incredibly entertaining. The Hoff, says his singing is perfect. Thanks Dave, that means sooooo much coming from you, maybe we can go to Germany....

6. Neal E. Boyd, the opera singer. Getting more and more confident, and rightfully so. He is awesome. He did an operatic version of "All By Myself" I loved it. The crowd hit their feet well before the song ended. Piers loved him, but....wants opera. He is making it through the interview stage of the show much better. None of the judges liked his choice of song, but everyone agrees that he can do it.

7. The Wright Kids, what are these people doing in this mix still? They are cute, but they are not a Vegas show. Maybe they could play Branson, but the girl always looks bored.

8. Queen Emily, good, but I am still casting my votes elsewhere. This is the first week I've even watched through her whole act. It was good. The judges gave her a standing O. I'm predisposed to not liking those with the title of Queen I guess.

9. Nuttin but Stringz, didn't do their usual. Piers said out of all the acts he'd pay his own money to see these guys. I bet they rock in person, but it doesn't translate well onto tv.

10. Eli Mattson, he's another of my favorites. I he's kind of Marc Cohn, whom I love. When Sharon informed him that Elton John watched, it looked like he was going to barf or faint.

I would guess that tomorrow we're going to find the following going into the final.

Neal E. Boyd
Nuttin But Stringz
Queen Emily
Eli Mattson
Donald Braswell

Not making it, in my opinion....

Kaitlyn Maher
Paul Salos
Jessica Price (although if I'm wrong it's here)
The Wright Kids
Joseph Hall

Check back tomorrow and see if I should pursue my psychic abilities.
