CSI Miami 10/13/08

Who cares? I watched My Own Worst Enemy on NBC. I hope that the CSI's have good syndication contracts because it is so OVER for them. I don't even care to watch it for the hilarity that is H. I love Christian Slater. He's sexy and that other thing. He can act. And he can act convincingly like two people, in the first episode. I've been waiting to be convinced that H is H for how many years now? Too many. By this time he should be the Fonz. Never again should he be able to appear in anything without someone yelling out "Horatio Caine" you know, like when Gary Sinise was in Apollo 13 and everytime he appeared on screen the entire audience would yell "Lieutenant Dan". I don't ask for much. I want one of two things. To always associate and actor with a character that I love, Lt. Dan, or to be convinced that the actor is the person he is playing no matter what he is playing.

BTW, I find Gary Sinise to be awesome. I just really loved Lt. Dan. I am quite convinced that Gary is who he is playing in anything I've seen him in. Even more so with Christian Slater. So, I will not be staying up late on Monday's to blog about CSI Miami. I might catch up by the weekend, but don't hold your collective breath. I'm am so over it.

My Own Worst Enemy 10/13/08

BEST SHOW EVER If you missed it NBC will be repeating it Saturday night, middle hour. To some that means 9 (Eastern and Pacific) to the middle that means 8.

The show opens up with a Henry opening up his computer. On it is him. He is telling himself. "My name is Edward and by now you've forgotten all about me. First call your wife and tell her that you won't make the soccer game, your life depends on it."

So, Henry Spivey is a 40 year old corporate America guy, wife, two kids, house in the burbs. But he is really a memory created by a secret government organization, that covers for Edward Albright (I'm pretty sure, I'm not checking right now too excited.) who is a super spy. Edward was the all American boy, little league, football, then his parents were killed in a car accident. He went on to the Army and 19 years ago, to keep him securely undercover, they created a split personality, which is Henry. Henry has no idea that Edward exists. Edward knows of Henry, but reluctantly allows his controllers to put Edward to sleep so that Henry can protect him.

This episode begins in Paris, Edward is there to catch a Russian bad guy. He has arranged for his favorite Russian bad girl to meet him. Edward and Natasha spend a steamy evening in their hotel overlooking the Eiffel Tower. Edward asks Natasha to help him find Uzi, she tells him it's impossible, he gets a call she takes a shower. When she comes out of the bathroom, she shoots the bed. Edward had anticipated this, and is sitting in the chair and shoots her.

When he returns to the states, his boss, played by Alfre Woodard yells at him for killing the target. Said she was needed, and Alfre's character accused Edward of killing a target to prevent someone he cared for some torture. They agree to disagree and Edward leaves.

He is met by the computer geek who is in charge of his personalities and memories. Geek guy asks if there were any continuity problems. Edward says he cut himself shaving. Geek guy goes to the billion dollar computer in the back, implants some memories of a convention in Akron, names, the fat guy on the flight, the shaving cut. Then asks Edward if he is ready to go to sleep. Edward asks if he has a choice. They show some vision irregularities and when the elevator opens out steps Henry reporting to his boss the full events of the convention in Akron, down to the fat guy on the plane. He later meets with the staff psychologist where he says he had a dream about being in Paris, and he even has a souvenir, a matchbook from the hotel in Paris.

Henry goes home, we meet the family. Basic every day white picket fence suburban family. While trying to get to sleep that night, Henry has troubles with his vision. He gets up to make a phone call to none other than geek guy. It's Edward wondering why he's awake. He asks that he be allowed to stay up for an hour to watch some baseball highlights. Geek guy calls boss lady, and asks if they should initiate termination.

Next day Henry goes back to work, has a discussion with his boss Tom (played by the brother in law on Yes Dear) about how they never get to spend any time with the family. Henry is met by the secondary boss lady who tells him he's off to solve a problem in Albany, she's already called the wife, Henry steps on to the elevator, googly eye thing, Edward gets off the elevator and is told he's going to Russia to get Uzi.

Next scene, Edward is in Russia with a sniper rifle trained on what one would presume to be Uzi. He's told not to shoot. Googly eye thing, Henry appears, quite confused as to why he's holding a sniper rifle. Accidently discharges the weapon and starts a major gun battle that Henry cannot handle. SWAT type guy comes in and rescues Henry, but not before killing half a dozen people, and getting blood all over a freaked out Henry. When they get back in the car Henry realizes it's his boss Tom. But Tom says his name is Raymond. Raymond tells Henry he has to calm down, because he has to call Tom's wife. Raymond tells his/Tom's wife that he wished he could come home but he's needed in Cleveland. After the call Raymond puts Henry in the floor boards of the truck and smuggles him out of Russia.

Henry has the finer points of his life explained to him. He is taken to Edward's house because Henry's wife isn't expecting him home for another day. Henry gets drunk, calls his wife, finds Edward's super spy stash, and his car keys. Drunk Henry decides he's going to drive himself home. Halfway home, Edward reappears, but decides to continue on the Henry's house. He goes home, wakes up the wife....The next moring Henry wakes up, confused as to why he's naked and at home. Wondering why the wife is cooking him a HUGE breakfast feast. His wife is all over him, but is interrupted by the kids needing a ride to school. Henry then notices the note in Sharpie on his hand that says "Never touch my car again" to which Henry replies, "you slept with my wife."

Back at head quarters, Henry is struggling with the thought of having his memories erased so they can reboot the program. He wants his life to be real. Alfre Woodards says "You'll think it is."

Next we see of Henry he is coming into his house. He's talking to his wife telling her he's on his way to the soccer game. The doorbell rings and there is a Russian at the door, and one behind him. They duct tape him up and threaten to kill his family if he lies to them. After a couple of close calls Henry tells them he doesn't know what they are talking about because he is two people. They go to Henry's car, to find a GPS and a shovel. Henry says Edward must have buried the treasure they are looking for and he'll help find it.

Henry is digging a hole in the desert of California, when they find a case. The main Russian has his lackey open it. At that point he tells Henry there are worse places to be buried, and goes on about how it's a shame that Henry would never get to meet Edward, that they couldn't communicate. Henry tells the Russian they do communicate and Edward had a message. Then Henry blows up the case, killing both of the Russians. He then drives home in his unscathed Chevy that was parked not ten feet away from the blast.

The entire message from Edward to Henry is played. Edward explains that he has to follow his instructions or he and his family will die. He lays out the plan that was just played out.

Henry agrees to go along with the back and forth until they can fix whatever computer problems are causing it. He just wants his life back. Henry goes to therapy and tells the therapist that he's just going through a stage in life where he is wondering if this is really his life. Paris was just a fantasy.

Finally, a message from Henry to Edward, telling Edward there is a difference between driving a guys car and driving a guys wife. Edward shuts it off and fade to black.

Previews indicate that the wife really likes Edward. I so love this show.
